The Mojo Substation Guarantees a Steady Power Supply to the Surrounding Area

The Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) and representatives from the Anbessa Beer Factory have confirmed that the 230-kilovolt (kV) Mojo Substation is delivering a consistent power supply to the area.
Mr. Wendu Dereje, the Service Delivery Center Operations Manager, stated that the substation’s increased power capacity is playing a key role in attracting more customers.
He further noted that the Mojo Substation is facilitating easier access to electricity for customers.
The substation currently serves 18,500 customers, including 12 tanneries, the cities of Ejere and Mojo, the Anbessa Beer Factory, and communities in the Shera and Biyu areas. These customers are now benefiting from a dependable power supply provided by the substation.
Mr. Wendu further explained that efforts are being made to leverage the substation’s reliable capacity to offer more power to current customers and attract new ones.
Mr. Minwuyelet Melaku, the Technical Operations Manager at Anbessa Beer Factory, emphasized the crucial role the substation has played in eliminating the frequent power outages that were once common.
He mentioned that prior to the substation’s construction, the factory depended on power from the Dukem transmission line, which frequently experienced outages due to the high number of users on the line.
However, since the Mojo Substation began operations with its dedicated 33 kV line, power interruptions have come to an end.
This has greatly helped to address production challenges, reduce extra fuel costs, prevent equipment damage caused by power outages, and resolve conflicts with stakeholders.
As a result, the substation has made a significant contribution to enhancing operational efficiency and reliability in the region.
