Our strategic goals focus on becoming East Africa’s premier power hub and a reliable transmission provider. We are committed to fulfilling national energy needs while decarbonizing the economy to create wealth and employment. By prioritizing clean energy, we aim to drive sustainable growth across the nation and the wider region.

One of the missions of Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) is to provide high-voltage electricity (132 kV and above) to large industries and neighboring countries.
As a result, EEP supplies power to major industrial hubs and facilitates energy connections with neighboring nations such as Sudan, Kenya, Djibouti, and Tanzania, generating approximately $300 million annually.
Furthermore, Ethiopia is working to expand its reach beyond the continental level. By strengthening energy links with additional neighboring countries, it aims to enhance economic and social ties across the East African region and beyond.
In its long-term strategy, Ethiopia is also developing bilateral relations with Somaliland and South Sudan. Consequently, extensive work is underway to establish the energy sector as a primary source of foreign currency through power exports.
