The EEP’s project won the Ethiopian Institutions Achievement Award

The Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Project was awarded the Ethiopian Institutions Achievement Award.
Five institutions, including the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Project, received accolades from Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) at an achievement award occasion held at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said that the institutions had been chosen based on their capacity to compete on both the national and continental stages.
He pointed out that the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project of the Ethiopian Electric Power is not only the first in Africa but also faces the most complex challenge in Africa.
He said that the initiative is the first in Africa to have won an award and that it has many undiscovered narratives and secrets.
The Prime Minister claims that although the project has had challenges in the past, its success has been attributed to the leadership displayed in resolving those issues in previous years.
The GERD manager at Ethiopian Electric Power, Engineer Kifle Horo, received the honor.
According to him, everyone who contributed to the project’s success in Ethiopia received the recognition, not only the individuals working on GERD construction.
Additionally, he pointed out that the award will motivate the Ethiopians to complete the project diligently to make the dam a reality and do better work in the future.
The Ethiopian Institutions Achievement Award was given to the Ethiopian Postal Service, Ethiopian Airlines, Ethio Telecom, and the Ministry of Agriculture in addition to the GERD Project.
