The project manager and employee explained that the Ashegoda substation expansion project has created job opportunities for the local community.

According to the manager Abraham Abate, the project has created temporary job opportunity for 70 youths in security and various construction works.
Despite working as a carpenter for many years, Mekelle City resident Ato Desta Gebre’s said that his wage was insufficient to sustain his family.

He asserted that the commencement of the substation project has created job opportunities for him and helped him earn better income.

Ato Mehari Girmay, a project employee, stated that before the project commenced in the area, he and his family relied on small-scale farming for their subsistence.

However, he noted that since the project commenced, he has been able to get job opportunities and gain additional income.

Ethiopian Electric Power is creating permanent and temporary job opportunities for many young people through the construction of power infrastructure in various parts of the country.

The Ashgoda 230/33 kV substation expansion project commenced in November 2023 and is scheduled to be completed and being operational within 8 months.
