34 percent of the expansion of the substation has been completed

Ashgoda 230/33 kV substation expansion construction has reached 34 per cent, the project manager announced.
The manager, Abraham Abate, announced that 30.1 per cent of the civil work and 4 per cent of the electromechanical work of the expansion work have been completed.
The manager mentioned that the expansion work will be completed in the current fiscal year and is being made ready for operation.
He said that expansion of two Buzbars, internal roads, fence work, drainage system constructions are among the main works to be carried out in the project.
Mr. Abraham stated that the work of placing two transformers with a capacity of 40 MVA has been done.
The transformers have the capacity to load 64 MW of power, he added.
According to Mr. Abraham, the expansion work of the substation has seven 33 kV outgoing lines.
When the expansion is completed, the 70 square meters new village of Mekelle City, the Itaca textile factory, Adigudom, Hewane city and its surroundings, as well as the industrial villages that will be built in the future, will get reliable electricity supply.
The manager mentioned that more than 219.9 million birr has been budgeted to complete the expansion project within 8 months.
Ashgoda substation expansion project is being carried out by the Own-force Department of Ethiopian Electric Power and a company called Power China is participating in the supply of substation equipment.
