International Women’s Day (March 8) was celebrated at the Adama I Wind Power Plant under the theme: “50 Years of Women’s Voice for Equality and a Prosperous Ethiopia.”
The event aimed to promote women’s rights, amplify the voice of equality, and recognize the significant contributions women make toward the nation’s prosperity.
Tiruwork Shiferaw, Director of Power Generation Plants Coordination III at Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP), stated that intentional empowerment and support are essential to enabling women to assume leadership roles.
She noted that beyond celebrating the day, women should strive to be effective and exemplary in every field in which they are engaged.
According to the Director, while institutional support is necessary, women must also focus on improving their educational qualifications to remain competitive and capable of carrying significant professional responsibilities.
Aynalem W/Michael, Manager of the Adama I Wind Power Plant, expressed her pride in hosting the occasion alongside women employees from various power generation plants.
Similarly, Etalem Eshetu, Director of Finance and Procurement under the Generation Business Sector, stated that if women equip and develop themselves through education, they will be able to demonstrate their capacity in all areas of professional responsibility.
She also called on women to embrace a “can-do” spirit and actively contribute in the professional fields in which they are engaged.
According to Haimanot Gebeyehu, Manager of the Digital Media and Publication Office under the Corporate Communication Directorate, women are expected to work diligently toward their goals without being discouraged by multiple work pressures and social challenges.
