W/ro Nejat Eshetu, an operations employee at the Semera Substation under Northeast Region 2 of Ethiopian Electric Power, stated, “Neither womanhood nor harsh weather conditions have deterred us from fulfilling our institutional responsibilities.”
She added, “Since Ethiopian Electric Power employees work in all weather conditions and terrains, I was determined to carry out my duties with full willingness and confidence when assigned to the Semera Substation.”
Furthermore, she noted that two other women are currently assigned to the same substation, and they are performing their duties with high morale and mutual understanding, undeterred by their gender.
Additionally, Ethiopian Electric Power’s Northeast Region 2 has recruited and trained ten local residents to serve as operators.
