Training Launched to Enhance Digital Skills of Professionals

Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has launched a digital skills development training program for professionals drawn from Central Region 1, Central Region 2, Central Region 3, and the Reppie Waste-to-Energy Plant.

According to Tsion Bekele, Acting Executive Officer for the Digital Transformation Sector, the institution has planned and is implementing several initiatives during the current fiscal year to advance its digital transformation agenda.

She noted that creating sufficient awareness and understanding of digital transformation is essential for employees to effectively utilize the modern operational systems that have already been implemented and those planned for future deployment.

Tsion explained that the training program is designed to strengthen the digital competencies of employees, enabling them to become better prepared for the institution’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.

She also indicated that EEP is working on plans to introduce additional modern operational systems, and the training will be expanded in future phases to include more professionals across the organization.

Meanwhile, Andualem Kidane, Director of the Process, Policy, and Change Management Department, stated that digital transformation is one of the five key reform agendas identified by the institution at the beginning of the current fiscal year.

He emphasized that as the institution’s operations increasingly transition to digital platforms and as these systems continues to expand both employees and managers must possess the necessary knowledge to effectively utilize digital tools. The director further explained that the institution is placing strong emphasis on building the digital capabilities of its workforce to support the successful implementation of these systems
