The substation is currently operating at an 80MW capacity.

The Bishoftu No. 3 substation announced that it transmits 80 MW of power daily.

Mr. Sisay Ayichew, in charge of the substation, stated that the 400 kV substation provides 50 MW of power daily to the nearby cities of Bishoftu, Dukem, and Mojo, as well as their surrounding factories.

The remaining 30 MW is supplied to a foreign company involved in data mining, thereby generating significant foreign currency.

The substation is equipped with two 600 MVA and four 50 MVA transformers, he said.

According to him, each of these six power transformers is equipped with a fire protection device, making this substation unique compared to others.

He stated that the staff residential houses were built to meet specific standards, significantly improving the comfort and security of the working environment.

Bishoftu No. 3 substation was officially inaugurated and began operations in 2020.
