The transition will be implemented in three phases to ensure a smooth rollout. The first phase will cover corporate sectors and departments under the Office of the CEO. The second phase will extend to business units, while the final phase will include power generation stations and regional offices.

To support the rollout, a two-day training program is currently being conducted for leaders and employees in the first-phase departments, focusing on the use of the new SAP-based system.

Ato Alemayehu noted that the existing manual system is not only costly in terms of paper usage but also prone to oversight gaps. He emphasized that the shift to a paperless SAP platform will significantly reduce administrative costs, streamline workflows, and strengthen transparency and control over travel-related expenditures.

The new system introduces several practical improvements. It enables automatic time tracking for employees working in the field, eliminating the need for supervisors to manually record and approve travel logs. In addition, the platform allows for the efficient generation of travel allowance reports from cost centers and enables authorized officials to review and approve requests remotely.

He further stated that for employees currently undergoing training, the digital system will become fully operational starting Monday, March 30, 2026. From that date onward, paper-based travel allowance requests will no longer be accepted within those units.

Similar training programs will be conducted for departments included in the second and third phases. Ato Alemayehu called on all sections of the organization to cooperate fully to ensure the successful implementation of the system.
