The contractor for the Asela Wind Farm Project has announced the implementation of robust safety measures to protect the health and well-being of workers involved in construction activities.
Mr. Chalachew Shiferaw, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Advisor at Siemens Gamesa, emphasized that comprehensive protocols have been introduced to mitigate risks associated with project operations and heavy machinery use.

In line with these efforts, workplace hazard assessments have been conducted, and potential health and safety risks have been identified. Preventive measures are now in place to proactively address and reduce the likelihood of accidents.
Before commencing their duties, employees undergo mandatory safety training, covering proper procedures, hazard awareness, and accident prevention techniques. According to Mr. Chalachew, appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is distributed based on the nature of each task, and adherence to safety protocols is closely monitored.
To ensure immediate medical assistance, a first-aid response center has been established at the site. In cases of serious incidents, a referral system is in place to guarantee timely access to medical care.
Thanks to rigorous safety practices and strict regulatory compliance, the project has reported no major injuries or fatalities, with only minor incidents occurring. The Asela Wind Power Project is now approaching its final stages of completion.
