
The Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has announced an international bidding process for the construction of a state-of-the-art 66-story headquarters in Addis Ababa’s Mexico area.
The towering structure, set to become a defining feature of the city’s financial district, will occupy 20,792 square meters of land and, once completed, boast a total floor area of 208,724 square meters, reaching a height of 345.5 meters.
Designed in collaboration with EEP and its consulting partners, the project will be executed under a turnkey contract, with the winning bidder solely responsible for construction.

Dar Al-Handasah has been appointed as the lead consultant for design and construction supervision. While EEP evaluates financing options, the final project cost will be disclosed upon the tender’s conclusion.
The utility has also dismissed unofficial cost estimates circulating on social media, emphasizing that only its official platforms will provide accurate updates. Interested contractors are expected to submit comprehensive proposals, with EEP prioritizing transparency and efficiency in the selection process.
The project marks a significant step in Addis Ababa’s urban development, reinforcing its growing status as a regional business hub.
