An exhibition commemorating the 13th anniversary of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam has been unveiled.

To mark the 13th anniversary since the foundation stone was laid for the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, a photo and art exhibition titled “Achieving together” has been officially opened in Addis Ababa.

Mr. Temesgen Tiruneh, FDRE’s Deputy Prime Minister, inaugurated the exhibition and toured the displays showcasing the development journey of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam over the past 13 years.

During the inauguration of the exhibition, Deputy Prime Minister Ato Temesgen highlighted Ethiopia’s abundance of natural resources and emphasized that the significant Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project underscores the nation’s capacity to harness its own resources and advance with the collective effort of its people.

He pointed out that the GERD will serve as a valuable lesson for other African nations, demonstrating how prosperity can be achieved and poverty overcome through self-reliance, a kin to the Adwa Festival.

Despite challenges posed by opposing forces attempting to hinder the dam’s construction, successful diplomatic efforts have allowed Ethiopia to overcome these obstacles, according to the Deputy Prime Minister.

It was noted that the Nile River is now unobstructed by mere songs and praises and is actively contributing to renewable electricity generation.

The exhibition is set to remain open to visitors until March 29, 2016, including today. It showcases the inception and progress of dam construction and has welcomed visitors such as students, diplomats, local and international journalists, and various other groups.

During the exhibition’s inauguration, prominent figures including Deputy Prime Minister of the FDRE Ato Temeseng Tiruneh, Minister of Water and Energy Dr. Engineer Habtamu Itefa, Ethiopian Electric Power CEO Engineer Ashber Balcha, as well as religious leaders, ambassadors, and other dignitaries, were in attendance.
