The main objective of the project is to evacuate power from Genale Dawa-III hydropower to Hawassa II Substation and then to the national grid and Awassa towns. The project is being used to connect the industries and domestic customers in the nearby town of Awassa and share some of the load from the existing Hawassa I substation.
