Koyesha Hydroelectric Power Plant project

The Koysha hydroelectric power project, located in the South western region of Ethiopia, is an upcoming initiative set to significantly contribute to the country’s renewable energy landscape. Once completed, the Koyesha hydroelectric plant is expected to have a generating capacity of 1800 megawatts. The project is currently in progress. This endeavor aligns with Ethiopia’s commitment to harnessing its abundant water resources for sustainable and clean energy production, furthering its goal of achieving energy security and supporting economic development. The dam is being constructed with roller compact concrete (RCC) fill. It has 201 meters height and 1012 meters length. The project has an average annual energy production capacity of 6460 GWh and the dam holds 6.8 million cubic meters of water.
