Project Outcome

The project is transmitting power to Afdera and its surrounding from Semera mainly through the 175km single circuit 230kV transmission line and 230/33 kV substation at Afdera.

The implementation of the project is helping to mitigate the current and future load growth in for rural towns in Afar region and lay strong basis for continuous rural electrification program.

It also helps to provide reliable power for the planned irrigation schemes which will be realized in the short-term regional development plan between Semara and Afdera. Furthermore, it lays foundation for the future Ethio – Djibouti second circuit Interconnection.
