The city administration has announced that the 230-kilovolt electric power substation currently under construction in the city is expected to significantly stimulate investment activity.

Debl Desalegn, head of the city administration’s investment office, stated that the project has created strong optimism among investors engaged in the hotel, industrial, and agricultural sectors.

He noted that the substation will play a key role in promoting sectoral growth and creating employment opportunities.

According to Debl, the city is currently attracting many investors, particularly in the hotel and industrial sectors.

He added that the construction of the substation is one of the major factors encouraging this investment interest.

He further explained that once completed, the substation will increase the city’s overall investment capacity and demand beyond its current level.

Mamo Deboch, a hotel operator in the city, emphasized that a reliable electricity supply is essential for providing quality services to customers in the hospitality industry.

He said the construction of the substation has given hotel operators renewed confidence in the future expansion of their services and businesses.

Another investor engaged in the hotel and agricultural sectors, Shitaye Zakarias, explained that most of her hotel and agricultural operations depend heavily on electricity. She said the substation will enable her to adopt modern systems and technologies to improve service delivery.

Shitaye added that reliable electric power is also critical for expanding modern agricultural practices.

She expressed strong hope that the new substation will help elevate her agricultural activities to a higher level of modernization.

She noted that her hotel business currently provides permanent employment for more than 30 people, while her agricultural activities create temporary job opportunities for more than 50 workers per day.

Shitaye confirmed that once the power substation under construction becomes fully operational, she plans to expand her investments further and create additional employment opportunities for many more citizens.
