The corporate planning sector of Ethiopian Electric Power announced that the company has created 10,548 job opportunities in power generation, transmission lines, substations, and other projects across the country.
Andualem Sia, Executive Officer of the sector, announced that the company is making a significant contribution to job creation for citizens, in addition to advancing energy infrastructure projects.
The Executive Officer stated that, alongside advancing energy infrastructure, Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) is also concentrating on job creation activities. He mentioned that the plan was to create employment opportunities for 13,197 citizens in the previous fiscal year.
He indicated that, through various projects across the country, 1,710 people have been permanently employed, 8,389 on a temporary basis, and 449 on a contractual basis, with 1,400 of these positions filled by women.
He said this demonstrates that the company is contributing to reducing the unemployment rate in the country.
He mentioned that financing constraints and security challenges hindered the execution of the program in the previous fiscal year, adversely affecting job creation efforts.
Approximately 15,000 jobs are expected to be created in the current fiscal year, including positions generated by new projects scheduled to begin this year.
