EEP has signed an agreement to renew its partnership with EBC.

Ethiopian Electric Power has agreed to collaborate with the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation to increase public awareness of EEP’s work.

At the signing ceremony, it was announced that the new agreement aims to improve the current one, with the goal of promoting the company’s activities to the public through news coverage, regular programs, documentary production, and short messages.

The agreement was signed by Engineer Ashebir Balcha, the CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power, and Mr. Getnet Tadese, the CEO of EBC.

At the signing ceremony, Eng. Ashebir Balcha, CEO of EEP, expressed that the agreement would enhance collaboration between the two organizations and capitalize on past experiences to boost productivity.

He mentioned that the agreement would significantly enhance EEP’s reputation by effectively promoting its power infrastructure projects through various media channels like television, radio, and digital platforms.

He emphasized the importance of increasing public awareness about the legal duties and responsibilities of Ethiopian Electric Power, highlighting its role as the historic power supplier in Ethiopia.

According to the CEO, the efforts in image-building through collaboration with the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation have begun to demonstrate a positive impact in promoting the company.

However, he noted that issues like compensation payments, right of way disputes, and power infrastructure theft not only hinder the reliable supply of energy to society but also place considerable strain on the country’s economy. Therefore, addressing these challenges comprehensively is essential.

He also urged EBC to educate the public about the difference between Ethiopian Electric Power and Ethiopian Electric Utility, emphasizing the promotion of the company’s brand.

Mr. Getnat Tadese, the Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation, stated that the agreement was established to enhance collaboration between the two companies.

The CEO highlighted that Ethiopian Electric Power is a company involved in constructing significant national projects such as the GERD.

He expressed his happiness that EBC has chosen to promote EEP’s work through national media, acknowledging the pivotal role of media in shaping the institution’s image.

The Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation has assured that it will conscientiously inform the public about preventing and safeguarding infrastructure from damage, while also introducing projects that enhance national development and benefit the country.

He mentioned that EBC’s role is to keep the community informed about the country’s progress in electricity development and its future plans in this regard.

He stated that the impact of their communication efforts will be seen gradually, but assured that his company is committed to bringing about significant change in a short span of time.
