The Women and Social Affairs Department of Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening women’s leadership and decision-making roles and promoting greater participation of women within the sector.

As part of this effort, the department recently completed a leadership training program for more than 60 female leaders of the institution, which was delivered in two rounds at the Ethiopian Management Institute.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Director of the Department, W/ro Lense Ede’e, stated that while women leaders within the institution carry out their responsibilities effectively, they often face challenges in promoting their achievements and increasing their professional visibility.

She noted that the training focused on key areas such as capacity building, professional visibility, self-presentation, and effective communication, and was designed to address gaps identified through institutional assessments.

According to the director, the program is expected to help women leaders become more visible by actively engaging in professional forums, confidently expressing their ideas, and participating in discussions. She added that this will enable them not only to demonstrate their capabilities but also to mentor and empower other women in their workplaces to pursue leadership roles.

Participants of the program also highlighted that the training provided them with valuable insights and practical experience, enabling them to identify areas for improvement while strengthening their confidence and leadership skills.
