Ethiopian Electric Power has signed an agreement at Skylight Hotel with Dar Al Handasah Shair and Partners to provide consulting services for the Asela Wind Power Project.
Engineer Ashebir Balcha, the CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power and Operations Director of Dar Al Handasah Shair and Partners, put their signature on the agreement.
Dar Al Handasah Shair and Partner Company have been granted permission to engage in consultancy activities with the institution’s engineering department.
At the signing ceremony, Engineer Ashebir Balcha, CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power, stated that the contract would provide an opportunity for the EEP engineering department to gain the essential skills and knowledge required to undertake consulting work at an international level.
He mentioned that the company is currently engaged in designing and supervising the construction of the EEP’s headquarters.
Additionally, he noted that they have progressed into a new stage of collaboration to develop the Asela wind power project in partnership with the institute’s engineering department.
Mr. Tariq Al-Qani, Operations Director of Dar Al Handasah Shair and Partner Company, expressed their intention to establish a firm capable of offering consulting services enriched with international expertise and know-how.
The Operations Director emphasized the company’s standing as the foremost energy provider in East Africa.
He conveyed excitement about their collaboration with the institution’s engineering department to deliver consulting services for the Asela wind power project, portraying it as a notable opportunity.
He stated that his company would play a vital role in ensuring the project’s timely completion according to the established schedule.
The agreement entails preparing the project for operation by overseeing the remaining construction tasks and providing consulting services.
Throughout the two-year contract period, the company and the engineering department of the institute will engage in knowledge sharing, on-the-job training, and technology transfer initiatives.
The generation construction sector of EEP is deemed essential for conducting consulting activities in collaboration with an international consulting firm.
A budget of over 3.4 million US dollars has been allocated for the project’s consulting activities, with funding secured through a combination of loans and grants from the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA).
