An agreement has been signed for the provision of electricity infrastructure. Engineer Ashbirr Balcha, CEO of Ethiopian Electric Power, and Ambassador Suleiman Dedefo, CEO of Ethio-Engineering Group, signed an agreement to produce and supply goods required for electrical infrastructure projects undertaken by Ethiopian Electric Power.

Engineer Ashebir highlighted the significance of the agreement in conserving foreign currency and time through domestic production.

He emphasized that sourcing electricity inputs domestically would not only benefit Ethiopian electricity but also contribute to national development.

Expressing gratitude for the support from the FDRE Public Enterprise Holding Administration, Mr. Ashebir stressed the importance of implementing this agreement for the mutual benefit of both institutions.

The CEO added his belief that the Ethio Engineering Group will soon commence producing inputs for the electricity infrastructure.

Similarly, the CEO of Ethio-Engineering Group, Ambassador Suleyman Dedefo, voiced his belief that the electrical infrastructure inputs manufactured by the group would provide significant advantages to Ethiopian Electric Power.

He further emphasized the importance of producing and using high-quality domestic products, pointing out that importing goods using foreign currency impedes institutional progress and negatively impacts the country’s economy.

Ambassador Suleiman addressed the perception that local products are perceived as inferior in quality, clarifying that the country is manufacturing high-quality goods not only for domestic use but also for the global market.

He emphasized the importance of learning from other countries, highlighting that the respectful use of domestic products has the potential to bring about significant economic transformations.

Consequently, their company is dedicated to producing and supplying products required as inputs for the electrical infrastructure for projects undertaken by Ethiopian Electric Power, meeting the organization’s standards in type and quality.

The ambassador emphasized that beyond product supply, the agreement between the two institutions will also facilitate capacity building and knowledge transfer.

Ato Geremew Keno, the Deputy Director of the PEHA, commented that the agreement between the two institutions illustrates that development organizations can collaborate for mutual benefit.

He additionally reaffirmed his office’s dedication to continuing its support for government development organizations involved in infrastructure construction, industry, and various other sectors, encouraging collaboration and facilitating transformative change.
