
Ethiopia Electric Power (EEP) is inviting contracting firms specializing in commercial construction projects to apply for prequalification to tender for the design and construction of its new headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The project, referred to as EEP/PP/PQ/01/2025, will be a DBB form of contract.
The planned headquarters aims to be an energy-efficient and sustainable green building, serving as an iconic representation of the industry and the country’s commitment to environmental protection. The tower will be located on a 20,792 m2 plot in the Financial District of Addis Ababa and will utilize a Design and Build delivery system. Dar al-Handasah (Shair & Partners) has been appointed as the design and construction supervision consultant.
The building will comprise 62 floors with a total built-up area of 197,800 m2. Its main components include basements for parking and MEP rooms, podium levels with lobbies and retail spaces, and multiple tower levels dedicated to office spaces, sky gardens, technical floors, and a restaurant on the 57th floor.
Applicants are required to demonstrate specific experience and capabilities, including financial capacity (audited financial statements and a minimum average annual turnover of 230 million USD over the last five years) and technical capacity (at least ten years of experience starting from January 1, 2015, in relevant construction roles, and successful completion of at least three similar contracts valued at a minimum of USD 370 million each within the last ten years).
