Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has announced the implementation of stringent corrective measures to address gaps identified in its fleet management system.
Head of the Fleet Management Office, Ato Wale Tamire, said recurring challenges have been observed, including the unauthorized use of vehicles, non-compliance with established directives, and improper handling of institutional vehicles as personal assets.
To curb these practices, the institution has begun enforcing firm administrative actions, including the suspension of drivers found responsible for mismanagement and related violations, he added.
Ato Wale stressed that ensuring the safety and proper utilization of vehicles requires shared responsibility, underscoring the need for both managers and drivers to strictly adhere to scheduled maintenance and servicing timelines.
He further indicated that new operational procedures are being introduced to ensure sustainable improvements. Accordingly, all newly procured vehicles, as well as those returned from project sites, will undergo rigorous inspection and formal handover processes to enhance accountability and operational efficiency.
