The two power substations located in Hawassa City are making significant contributions to the city’s overall development, the city administration has announced.
According to Ato Abera Adela, Head of the Investment Sector at the Hawassa City Land Administration and Investment Office, the electricity supply in the city has been improving steadily over time, playing a major role in attracting investment to the area.

He noted that beyond its role in attracting investment and increasing production and productivity, the availability of electricity has also contributed significantly to urban beautification, improvements in the community’s standard of living, and job creation.
Ato Abera further explained that the substations in the city have played an important role in stimulating investment activities. As a result, 942 investment projects in sectors such as services, agriculture, construction, and manufacturing have already become operational in the city.


He also indicated that power supply requests from investors are being addressed promptly. Looking ahead, he emphasized that reliable electricity supply remains one of the key sectors the city administration relies on to attract additional investments.
According to the official, the substations in Hawassa are contributing significantly to the city’s comprehensive and rapid development by further encouraging investment.
He also noted that these substations have served as a foundation for the social and economic progress the city has achieved so far. In recent times, taking into account the city’s reliable power supply, the city administration has been receiving new investment proposals from potential investors.
Meanwhile, Ato Zerihun Hailemariam, Manager of Tabor Foam Factory, stated that the substations in the area have helped ensure a reliable electricity supply, enabling the factory to increase productivity and deliver products to customers efficiently and on time.
He also indicated that with the assurance of stable power supply in the area, the factory is working to expand its operations by installing additional machinery and establishing new production facilities.
