Substations Significantly Boosting Investment Flow in Wolaita Sodo

The Wolaita Sodo City Investment Office has announced that local electric power substations are playing a critical role in expanding investment and creating jobs by providing a reliable energy supply.

According to the Head of the Investment Office, Ato Chernet Tesfaye, the city’s two substations have created an environment that allows investors to engage in various sectors with confidence.

Currently, 152 investment projects have commenced operations across the service, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors.

Additionally, 41 investors have secured licenses and are currently in the construction phase, while 29 new investment applications have been submitted to the office.

Ato Chernet noted that this improved power supply presents a significant opportunity to achieve the goal of transforming the city into an industrial and technological hub.

However, he urged that proactive measures must be taken to ensure the infrastructure keeps pace with future energy demands.

Corroborating this impact, Ato Elias Tadesse, Human Resources Manager at Anjid Flour Factory, stated that their facility now receives sufficient power to operate machinery effectively.

This has not only boosted productivity but has also enabled the factory to provide permanent employment for 70 local youths.

Finally, officials issued a call to the public to protect these energy infrastructures with a sense of ownership, emphasizing that they are national assets built through significant public investment.
