The Ethiopian Electric Power technical support office for power transmission lines and substations has announced that all regional directors are currently receiving training on the SAP Plant Maintenance module, which is designed to modernize maintenance and operational tasks.
The office manager, Mr. Netsanet Melaku, announced that the initial round of training for the Plant Maintenance Module has commenced. This module is intended to enhance the operation and maintenance of substations and transmission lines.
He noted that the training, which involves the implementation of the SAP Plant Maintenance module, is essential for modernizing regional operating systems, creating a strong resource management system, cutting costs, and boosting efficiency.
Eleni Sisay, an electrical engineer at the office, explained that the plant maintenance module records the details of transmission lines and substations, helping to carry out maintenance tasks as per a predetermined schedule.
She stated that the training aims to enhance understanding of how regional teams conduct maintenance activities using the SAP Plant Maintenance system.
It was noted that the training will be provided to regional experts who have been gathering essential data for the plant maintenance module, as well as to maintenance specialists from those regions.
In a similar vein, initial training is being conducted for substation managers in the Central Two region to facilitate the implementation of the SAP Plant Maintenance module.
Mr. Weleday Gebretinsae, a member of the SAP implementation committee for the sector, stated that the training will enable substation managers to enhance and modernize their operational and maintenance tasks through the implementation of SAP Plant Maintenance.
Mr. Biniam Tsegaye, the training coordinator, explained that the implementation of SAP Plant Maintenance will streamline operations by eliminating manual processes at the substations. This upgrade is expected to reduce both time and costs while also decreasing the frequency of power outages.
The coordinator emphasized that using a supported information system and following standardized procedures will be crucial for effective maintenance op
erations.
