Summary: This document provides the detailed technical framework for the Critical Habitat Assessment (CHA) required for Component-3 of the PRIME-1 project. It ensures the sub-projects comply with the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Standard 6 (ESS6). Key components include:

  • Scope of Work: Consultants must establish seasonal baselines (wet and dry seasons), map the Area of Influence (AoI) and Ecologically Appropriate Area of Analysis (EAAA), and identify species of conservation concern.
  • Project Locations: * Allalobad: A 49 $km^2$ concession area in Doubti Woreda.
    • Tendaho: A 200 $km^2$ concession area in the northwestern Tendaho graben.
  • Deliverables: Required outputs include an Inception Report, seasonal CHA data reports, a Draft Biodiversity Impact Assessment, and a Biodiversity Management Plan (BMP).
  • Staffing Requirements: The team must include experts such as a Team Leader/Ecologist, Botanist, Zoologist, Aquatic Biologist, and Livelihood Specialist.
