The Asela Wind Farm Project has generated both temporary and permanent job opportunities for over 400 local residents, according to the project’s site manager.
Mr. Fekadu Abreham, the site manager, explained that the project includes the installation of 29 wind turbines, a 230-kilovolt substation, and the construction of a 38-kilometer transmission line with a capacity of 33 kilovolts.
In line with the agreement made with the contractor, priority has been given to communities within a 25-kilometer radius of the project, ensuring that local residents benefit from the employment opportunities.
So far, the project has created jobs for over 400 people, with the majority being young people from the surrounding area.

Among the beneficiaries is Tolosa Roba, who shared that before the project began, he struggled to find stable work. The income he now earns has enabled him to support himself and his family.
For the past two years, Tolosa has been working on the project, which has provided him with a stable income to support his family’s needs.
Another beneficiary, Mulu Teka, recounted that before the project started, she had to travel to an Arab country for work to support her family.
However, since the project began three years ago, she has been able to stay home, care for her family, and educate her children.
In addition to creating job opportunities, the project will contribute to the region’s economic development by providing reliable power, which is expected to support the launch of other economic initiatives.
