Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has conducted Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) training for its newly recruited employees as part of the institution’s continued commitment to ensuring a safe and secure working environment across all operational areas.
The training program was organized to familiarize new staff members with workplace safety standards, operational risks, and preventive measures prior to their full deployment into regular assignments.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Korsa Tato, Occupational Safety and Health Manager at EEP, stated that the training is designed to equip employees with comprehensive knowledge of potential workplace hazards and the appropriate mitigation mechanisms. He emphasized that early awareness and preparedness are critical to minimizing risks and ensuring efficient and incident-free operations.

Mr. Korsa further noted that the program covers key safety components, including safe movement within operational sites, hazard identification, and the proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Strengthening adherence to these safety protocols is expected to significantly reduce workplace accidents and operational disruptions.

In addition to preventive measures, the training includes emergency response preparedness. Participants received guidance on incident containment procedures and basic First Aid administration to enable timely intervention and minimize potential damage or injury in the event of unforeseen incidents.
EEP reaffirmed that employee safety and well-being remain institutional priorities. The organization will continue to monitor and ensure the adequate supply, proper utilization, and regular inspection of safety equipment across its facilities.
Through such initiatives, Ethiopian Electric Power continues to promote a strong culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability in line with national standards and international best practices.
