During the fiscal year, sixteen tips regarding corruption and malpractice were reported.

During the current fiscal year, the ethics and anti-corruption monitoring executive officer of Ethiopian Electric Power has put forward sixteen investigation tips concerning procurement processes, project management, conflicts of interest, and compensation issues.

According to Executive Officer Mr. Merga Terefe, fourteen of the tips have been reviewed, and a decision proposal has been submitted to the concerned authority.

He mentioned that investigations are currently ongoing regarding the remaining two suggestions.

Additionally, he noted that more than 1,600 employees and leaders of the company underwent training on ethical development aimed at improving transparency, accountability in operational systems, and compliance with the law.

He stated that the awareness training would help the company’s leaders and employees develop a servant mindset, eliminate discrimination and corruption, and responsibly utilize government resources and assets to effectively achieve the company’s mission.

He also explained that, in addition to investigating suggestions and complaints and conducting random inspections, a code of ethics has been distributed to prevent employees and leaders from engaging in misconduct.

The executive director stated that, in addition to the officials legally mandated to declare their assets this fiscal year, 210 employees identified as at risk of corruption have also been required to declare their assets.
